Step 1

Open a Web browser and navigate to the support website of the system or motherboard manufacturer.

• Determine the types of drivers you need to establish an Internet connection on the repaired or upgraded computer. In most cases, you’ll only need basic motherboard and network card drivers on the machine to connect to the Internet. Consequently, you don’t need to download video, sound card or other peripheral drivers unless the computer on which you want to install them will have no Internet access at all. Most modern motherboards have integrated network ports. Therefore, if you download the basic chipset and network adapter drivers from the motherboard manufacturer, you can correct any driver issues preventing you from connecting to the Internet.
• Instead of burning the driver files to a CD, you can also use a USB flash drive. Just connect the USB flash drive to the computer with the Internet connection and copy the driver files to the device. After saving the driver files to the USB device, remove it and then connect the device to the computer without the Internet connection. Even without advanced chipset drivers for the motherboard, Windows can install and use basic USB drivers that will allow you to connect and use a flash drive with the system.
